My Blog

Bowman Bears patterns now available!

Hello all, HUGE apologies for not keeping up with my blog. It has been very busy in the world of bears. Here is a little of what has been happening.

A while back I was asked to design a dragon. At first this was quite a daunting task, I had only really been working on the bears, but I thought about it and came up with a pattern idea. I made it and it worked. Great, I thought. I had made a few dragons for people using baby clothes and I always really liked the pattern.

I had come across a company whose sole business was to design toy patterns for people to buy and make themselves, I like their business idea and thought that in this case it could be something worth thinking of.

Happy Mothering Sunday from Bowman Bears

Happy Mothering Sunday everybody. I hope everyone is having a lovely day.
I have been really busy since January developing lots of lovely new keepsake bears that I have somewhat neglected my blog, so here is a little update.

I have developed and designed my own little dragon to join the team. He is jointed like the keepsake bears and can be made out of lots of different cotton fabric to suit your decor.

He has padded wings and very cute little ears or horns? I don't quite know what you call them !

Puff the magic dragon

Hello, well I didn't expect to be as busy as I have been over the past few months, especially after Christmas, but it has been buzzing with new bears and new designs!

I was asked if I could make a Dragon recently to potentially be sold in a shop. I looked around on the internet for patterns, and I didn't see any I liked. I also liked the idea of designing my own pattern, so I gave it a go. Here is the finished result.

He is jointed like the bears and has padded wings and spikes up his back.

Keepsake Dogs and Bunnies

Baby Keepsake, Memory Bear, Keepsake Bear, Bowman BearsWell, if Keepsake bears weren't keeping me busy I have expanded my Keepsake range to now include Dogs and Rabbits. I am really pleased with how they have taken off and really think they fit in well with the bears.

I usually use four to five items of clothing per bear so have had to slightly adjust this for the rabbits as they are bigger.
Keepsake Bunny, Baby Keepsake Gift, Bowman Bears
They made wonderful gifts for Mother's day too, which is just around the corner, so don't delay get those old clothes out of the loft and contact me to order a lovely Keepsake Bear to treasure forever.

Happy New Year from Bowman Bears!

Happy New Year!

Well, I seem to be neglecting my blog at the moment, so this is one of my new years resolutions!

I had a really busy lead up to Christmas, which was great but it meant I couldn;t keep on top of this side of things.

I had my first fair! It was very exciting, I was quite nervous as I didn't know how the bears would go down. But it was great, I sold a few and had lots of interest on the Keepsake Bears, so that was good.

This was one of my Christmas bears that I had on my stall, I didn;t sell it at the fair, but eventually it was sold through my Facebook page.

Christmas comes in Summer

It has been ages since I have updated my blog, the summer holidays have proved to be quite hard going with the kids, and I haven't had as much time as I usually have to update.

I have been working on my christmas bears for this year though. I know! It's only August, but I like to be organised :)

So I completed the sample christmas bears last night and here they are.

I have included another big bear for this christmas, he is on the left. He is a bit bigger than my other bears and has long arms.

Raffle begins/I have a widget...

Hello! Well I am very excited as I have just added a widget to my site...It links to my just giving page where I am trying to raise £100 in a raffle to win a bear for Raise the Roof Kenya.

The raffle offically starts tomorrow but I already have £15.00 donated! Wow, thank you!

My first craft fair is coming up on Sunday and I have nearly finished making all of the stock, so I am finally looking forwards to it :) Have a look at my collage of some of the bears I will be selling.

Craft Fair Madness

I am currently making lots and lots of Bowman Bears for my first Craft Fair at Kingston Rugby Club Family Day.

I am, however, finding it quite daunting having to make so many of the little lovelies! I have been sewing all week, and my children have been very patient with me, bless them, I now have a box of bears and bunnies ready to stuff and joint.

So if you would like to see me and my bears in the flesh come and pop down if you are in the area.

It is on Sunday 3rd June 2012.

Raise the Roof Charity raffle

I have decided that I would like to help my friend who has set up her own charity to help children and young people out in Kenya. Her charity is called Raise the roof .http://raisetheroofkenya.com/

Here is a little video about the work she has done so far

Anyway, I want to help, so one the 1st of June 2012 I will be starting my raffle to win one of my bears, made espcially for the Raise the Roof campaign. Tickets are only £1.00 and you can buy them through my just giving page to make sure that Raise the Roof get all of the donations.

What to do with those old duvets ..?

I love making keepsake items as I find it hard to get rid of those especially sentimental items from those lovely early years of being a parent. However I understand that not everyone can bring themselves to cut up special clothes to make into a bear, so I have decided to start making bedding bears.

The are exactly the same as memory bears, although not patchwork, but still create a timeless keepsake.

I made my own one yesterday out of my daughter's old duvet cover. I had two of them so I decided to make the other one into a bear.
