As most of you will know, I have always made and sold my bears as Keepsake Bears so they are display items. However, they do have an appeal to children. (Naturally) Now, the tricky thing was how to be able to sell and make my keepsake bears legally? They couldn't be CE marked due to the material that was being used. And I was advised that the only truly safe way of testing one of my bears was to have it tested at a testing house. Which wasn't possible in this circumstance.
So, today I am very excited as I have had the ok from Kingston Borough council Trading Standards that the way I have place my bears on stands is sufficient to be classed as a display item.
They are attached by placing a joint that I use in my bears anyway, inside the bear so the flat part is exposed. This part is then securely stuck onto the base.
I am planning to offer them in different colours with little wooden names on the base too. This can be painted in complementary colours to match the bear.
I am really please with how they look. The stand doesnt distract from the bear itself, which is the main thing and the bears can still be displayed in a child's room, but the main thing is that the child is safe from harm.

As you can see from these pictures, the bear sits nicely on the base. This one is mine so I have not painted it yet, this was purely a sample so I could see if it worked.
I would love to hear your feedback on this.
This has been worrying me for weeks but today I feel better about it all.
I am going to get some wooden letters. I think this will make it even more special.
Anyway, please do let me know what you think.
